Awesome foods for strong teeth

If you want to have the perfect smile throughout your life, you will have to make sure that you take time out to look after your teeth and live a health conscious lifestyle. We all know about the tips and tricks when it comes to good oral health and we have all heard of the 2 minute brushing rule, but did you ever think about your diet as a factor in the strength of your teeth?
Believe it or not, the food we eat can have a huge impact on the health of our teeth and we can avoid a trip to the dentist if we simply eat the right things and give our teeth the nutrients they crave. Here are some of the biggest good foods you should be eating for healthy teeth.
Leafy greens
Leafy greens are full to the brim with healthy vitamins and minerals which do a range of different things for the body and which make us so much healthier overall. Folic acid for example is great for treating gum disease in pregnant women and it can also be good for your tooth enamel. If you can add a small handful of leafy greens to every meal you’ll be doing your body a huge favour. I love to add kale and spinach to my smoothies every day and both of these foods contain calcium too which we know is great for bone and teeth health.
Apples
Apples are the epitome of a healthy fruit and they can have many different benefits to the body. They are very high in fibre and this forces our mouth to produce a lot of saliva when eating one. This in turn rinses away bad bacteria and aids in digestion. Eating an apple a day can really keep the doctor, and the dentist, away.
Carrots
Other than being high in retinol to help us see in the dark, carrots are also full of vitamin A and lots of fibre which can be amazing for our teeth by helping it to produce more saliva. This saliva will help to wash away food particles and prevent food staying stuck on the teeth which could lead to cavities. Eating a few baby carrots at the end of the meal will allow you to produce more saliva and lower the risk of such cavities.
Green tea
This wonderful tea has so many incredible health benefits and they even extend to our teeth! Green tea contains some antioxidants called catechins which are useful in reducing gum inflammation caused by oral bacteria.
Onions
Now these aren’t going to be the best for your breath, but they have fantastic antibacterial properties that can kill harmful bacteria in your mouth and on your teeth.
What you eat really has an amazing effect on your whole body and this starts right in the mouth with your teeth! The very food you choose to chew will have an effect on your teeth, so choose the right foods today.
