Natural beauty review: Peachy Fox London - Collagen Retinol Moisturiser
Posted on
In this blog post I will review the Peachy Fox London Collagen Retinol Moisturiser.
I’ll admit, I’ve been pretty rubbish over the years looking after my skin. In particular I never used to moisturise at all. I just didn’t believe my skin needed it. I’m still very lax when it comes to moisturising my body, but luckily I have pretty soft skin on my arms and legs that does not flake or dry out.
My face, however, has started to age considerably the past couple of years. Perhaps it’s because I’m in my 30s or the lack of sleep and stress of being a parent to two young children, or even because I stupidly smoked and drank a fair amount of alcohol for ten years from age 16. Whatever the reason, or probably a combination of everything, my skin is really starting to show its age and I fear it even looks older than it is.
I’ve also suffered with spots for years now, especially around my jaw line. I have oily skin and I’m starting to get deep lines that won’t disappear. I promise you, I’m not frowning at you, it’s just my wrinkles!
Going natural
I’ve had to admit defeat and start a morning and evening moisturising routine to try and help my facial skin. Seeing as up to 60% of the products we put on our skin end up in our bodies and this can take around just 90 seconds, I always go for natural based products.
Organic products are preferable as who wants any pesticide residue in their blood stream or smeared into their face? Not me. Plus, these organic natural products are so much better for the environment, both when the plants are grown and when they wash off your skin.
One of the best things about transitioning to natural beauty products is the huge range of brands just waiting to be discovered! We’ve all heard of the usual commercial brands which fill the magazines, TV adverts and are found in regular stores, but the unique smaller natural brands are rising and there are plenty about once you start looking in the right places.
Most of these brands aren’t about making the most profits whilst using the cheapest most harmful chemical ingredients, but about cruelty free beauty products using high quality ingredients sourced ethically. Many are lovingly crafted by hand or have humble beginnings. They use natural ingredients and make it their mission to create products that are truly kind to our skin. Ingredients that nourish, repair and protect. Ingredients good enough to eat!
Peachy Fox London review
One of these very brands recently got in touch with me and let me choose a product to try. The brand is Peachy Fox London who I hadn’t heard of before. I chose their Collagen Retinol Moisturiser with descriptions such as ‘Youthful Skin’ and ‘Potent Anti-ageing Radiant Glowing Skin Formula’ – just what my skin is in desperate need of.
Firstly, I love the packaging. I know it shouldn’t matter, but I’ll admit I’m a sucker for nice packaging. I love the clean white tubes and the cute tree logo. I also love the fact it has a pump dispenser. Pumps mean you can get just the right amount of lotion and no mess anywhere else. There’s no need to shake the bottle or to untwist a lid. It makes everything super easy and convenient.
I’ve been using this first thing in the morning after cleansing and last thing at night before I go to bed. It’s a light cream that blends into the skin quickly and easily without leaving a greasy shine. This makes it perfect to wear on its own in the day time, make up free. I’ve been braving going makeup free quite a lot recently because I love saving the time in the morning, but also to try and clear these pesky spots. It leaves my skin soft and calm. I love how I wake up with kinder looking skin than when I go to bed without moisturising.
I’m not sure there’s much of a smell, but that doesn’t bother me. Perhaps I just can’t notice it as Ben was sniffing my face when I got into bed the other night saying I smelt like vanilla ice cream and what had I put on my face?! He approved! Perhaps he has a better sense of smell than me!
Are there anti-ageing benefits?
After a week and a half it’s too early to tell if there are anti-ageing benefits, but I’m pretty sure my frown lines are beyond disguising and I need a face lift already!
Here’s what Peachy Fox London have to say: ‘An extremely effective Day or Night-time Collagen Retinol Moisturiser that is formulated to help diminish the signs of aging, leaving your feeling skin super soft with a radiant glow. Featuring powerful natural ingredients such as Vitamin A, Jojoba oil, Argan Oil, Collagen, Marine Collagen, Hyaluronic acid & vitamin E.’
It’s not tested on animals and it’s made in Britain, but the big question of all is would I buy it myself?
Yes I would. For less than £14 and filled to the brim with pure powerful skin friendly ingredients, it’s worth every penny and more.
