There’s no doubt about it - the coronavirus has turned our lives upside down and some things may never return back to normal.
For many, the lockdown has been a time of reflection, making us realise how precious our lives really are and to follow our dreams. For some, this dream might be to uproot and move to a new location.
The pandemic might also have changed your working life and what you value in a home. Perhaps you now want a home with enough space for an office so you can work at home. Or a garden in case we are cooped up inside for local lockdowns or self-isolation without the ability to leave our homes. In which case an outdoor space can be a haven!
But, is it really a good time to move house? Let’s take a look.

Our fixer upper house has been a labour of love for six years now. Upon moving in we naively thought we’d be done in a matter of weeks, but had no idea how much things cost and how long it would really take to decorate the house to our taste. Throw in having our second baby after moving in and getting married and things took even longer than we could have ever imagined.

Despite getting plenty of wear and tear, the bathroom can often be the most overlooked room of the house when it comes to getting a regular spruce up. With a lot of cold weather still to come, there’s always one boring thing that we have to cough up for – heating our homes. We all need our home to be cosy during the long and cold winter days - but how can you keep your home stay warmer for longer?

Everybody spills things. I don’t think there’s a single human being alive who hasn’t spilt something at some stage. If you have kids and/or pets then it’s inevitable something will spill on the floor, no matter how much you try to stop it. If you’ve hard floors then great - simply mop up the mess and job done. But what if you have carpet in your home? Carpeting an entire room is expensive and you can’t re-carpet every time there’s a spill or stain, so it’s wise to learn how to remove some of the most common stains so your carpet is cost-effective for years to come. Removing stains from carpets can be a little trickier than mopping a spill on hard flooring. In this blog post I’ll explore how to DIY to remove some common stains from your carpet.

Although it is lovely to hire outside help to tackle your home improvements and decorating, there will no doubt be quite a high cost. Some of the work can be quite specialised and you may need to hire professionals for certain jobs, especially electrics and plumbing. One question I see raised time and again about matched betting is whether it affects a mortgage application. In this blog post I am going to explore my own experience of applying for a mortgage whilst being a matched bettor.
Our fixed deal was coming to an end and so we applied for a new mortgage at the end of last year to lock in a great new fixed rate. It was the first time I had applied for a mortgage since starting matched betting two years ago and so I was slightly nervous to whether matched betting affected my credit score and if my mortgage application would be denied.

Autumn seems to be settling in quicker than ever this year. We had a beautifully hot summer which started early in the spring and now autumn seems to be coming quicker than ever.
My mum is certain the seasons are changing and everything is shifting a little earlier through the year!
Though the middle of the days are still warm, the mornings are really quite nippy. I’ve already got layers on each morning with a hoody or knit to fend off the chill.

You can’t get more autumn than that!
I feel like autumn is fast settling in and the cold weather will be here before we know it.
Because of this, here are five ways to get your home autumn ready:

When we purchased our family home and moved in just over four years ago, the bathroom was the first room we focused on. Within 1-2 weeks of moving in we had a bathroom tiler come and replace the bathroom tiles and fit a new bath.

You’ve probably heard all the noise about claiming back your mis-sold PPI, but did you realise you may also have been mis-sold your mortgage and could have a claim?
It’s a new one to me, but after some digging it seems some people have been poorly advised and not treated fairly by their lender, adviser or broker. In this blog post I’ll take a look at why people are making mortgage claims and whether you may have a case.
